Hello! I am Aaron Engelman and welcome to King of Kings’ Lenten Devotions, “Transformed in Christ”

Today is April 16th and this week we are reminded to Follow Jesus to the Cross.

Today’s truth that transforms is: Rest with Jesus

Our reading is from Hebrews 3 & 4.

12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works,[h] just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[i] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

How are we “Transformed in Christ” and shaped to be more like Him?

Those preparing Jesus’ body for burial were hurried because they had to complete preparations before Sabbath began at sundown on Friday. No work could be done from then until the Sabbath concluded at sundown on Saturday. God’s people remembered Sabbath because God rested from His work of creation. Six days He created. The seventh day He rested. His work was completed. What is happening this sabbath at Jesus’ tomb? God is resting once again. Resting from His work of redemption. It is completed. Jesus said, “It is finished,” and committed His Spirit to the Father. His body rested in the tomb. Before the dawn of Easter morning, the stone will be rolled away for all to see that Jesus’ life has entered His body and once again lives. But on this day, we rest. The work is completed. Tomorrow we celebrate this victory!
