Hello! I am Aaron Engelman and welcome to King of Kings’ Lenten Devotions, “Transformed in Christ”

Today is April 7th and this week we are reminded to Be Like Jesus with Power in the Holy Spirit.

Today’s truth that transforms is: The Holy Spirit Gives You Authority…Use It

Our Scripture readings are from Luke and Matthew

Luke 10
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

Matthew 28
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

How are we “Transformed in Christ” and shaped to be more like Him?

Jesus’ authority for His earthly mission grew out of His relationship with the Heavenly Father, particularly the intimacy that He experience with God. That is why we see Jesus pausing from time to time to hear from His Father before certain decisions or directions. If Jesus was operating from the Father’s authority and then left this world, what do you think He left for His followers? Authority!? Right! Jesus passes to His followers the authority to act in His name. It carries authority. This is the very power of God entrusted to the church so that Jesus’ work of rescue would continue as the church makes disciples! You have authority to use Jesus’ name to minister His love to your world! Use it!
